There are some versions of the popular Wordle focused on a very special topic, are the so-called Video game wordle. One of the most famous in this very specific segment is High Score Day, a pastime that tests players' knowledge of their favorite video games.
In this post we will focus mainly on two options: High Score Day, a Wordle to guess video games from screenshots, and Videogame Heardle, which focuses on the intros of the most popular video games.

This is a free game that we can access from this link. The basic game mechanism is the same as the original Wordle, although adapted to the specific characteristics of the world of gaming. But there is a big difference between this game and Wordle: here there is no single answer to reveal, no hidden words. They are screenshots of five video games, there is only one response opportunity per screen: simply hit or miss. Correct answers are marked in green, wrong ones in red.
At first, it seems a bit difficult, but the player always has the help of the search box. When writing the name of the game, we have the autocompletion tool. So there is no need to be afraid of not knowing exactly how the game we are referring to is written.
The High Score Day home page shows us more than a hundred rounds of five games, normally classified by genres (action, fantasy, horror, steampunk, aliens...), but also simply by game elements or details, for example stairs, telephones, basements, animals, etc. The level of difficulty lies in the fact that in the long list of games to guess there are some very recent ones and, therefore, still little known. Another alternative within the world of Wordle videogames is Videogame Heardle. It is a challenge only up to the most expert players. We could say that it is an advanced level challenge, although with simple mechanics, especially for those who are familiar with Heard, the «Wordle of songs».
This website offers us a short snippet of the intro of a video game, with images and sounds. With that little information we will have to try to guess which game it corresponds to. To help us in this complicated task, the game gives us clues by giving us a few more seconds of the introduction.

The great success achieved by Wordle has led to the launch of many and new variants of the classic version of the game. In this blog we have analyzed some of them, all with their own peculiarities and designed for different types of players. This is a brief summary of all of them:
Classic Wordle variants
These are other ways to play Wordle, while respecting the original structure of the game. Some add some aspects that make the task of guessing the hidden word quite complicated, a lot of gymnastics for our neurons:
- with accents. The same game, but respecting the words that have accents. Recommended for the most purists.
- Time trial. The usual classic Wordle, but with a small change that makes everything more exciting: a time limit.
- Dordle. You have to guess two words, each one on a panel. Twice the work and twice the fun.*
- Childish. To start the little ones in the game. Here the word to guess is only three letters long.
- Lewdle: a very curious Wordle in which what you have to guess are swear words, swearing and bad words. It's only available in English.
- nerdle, the Wordle of numbers.
(*) There is also a variant to play to guess four words (Quordle) and another in which you have to guess eight (Octordle).

This is the category in which we could add to the Wordles of video games like High Day Score. They are challenges that start from the same idea as Wordle, but go beyond the theme of letters and words to address other fields, also modifying the game mechanics a bit. Here goes some examples:
