This is an app that we will be able to download directly from the website of the creator of the program. When we have downloaded it to our PC, we are going to unzip that downloaded ZIP file and proceed to its installation then. Then we restart the system, otherwise, the different options that we are going to see next will not be activated in this app. Once we have restarted, we can now use this app.
What we have to do is open any folder in Windows File Explorer and select the “View” tab. We then click on the “Options” button and a context menu will appear, where we will enable the toolbars "QTTabBar" y "QT Command Bar". When this is done, you will see that an additional bar is added to our browser. The next thing is that we click on the gear-shaped icon and then the QTTabBar options open. In this menu we click on the “Appearance” option in the menu located on the left and on the right on the tab called “Folder View”. From this section we are allowed to change the color of the text, the color of the border of the folder and the color of the background, which is what interests us in this case. For this to be possible, the first option called “Base background color” must be activated and its two boxes will then be activated, which will allow us to configure the color we want for when the window is active or inactive.

Once the zip file is downloaded, we will unzip it and proceed to its installation or use the portable version. When everything is ready, we have to right-click on the folder that we want to customize and in the contextual menu that appears on the screen, we are going to select CustomFolder. When we have done this, the main menu will appear on the screen where we can choose the desired color for our folder. This program gives us a wide range of colors, so you will be able to choose the one you want among those colors.
When you have chosen the color you want to use, We only have to click on the “Apply design” button. By doing this, you will see that the folder will change color automatically, so that we have obtained the desired effect. If we want, we will be able to eliminate it or choose another color with which to customize it in Windows. This program also has a panel of floating emblems that we will be able to add to the folder along with the color change. This is something that will give us greater customization of said folder on the computer, but it is something optional at all times. This is a portable program, which means that you don't have to install anything in the operating system, which makes it very convenient. This way we will be able to carry out this customization option whenever we want and have that new color in the folders.
This program can be downloaded from this link to your main website. Once the zip file is downloaded, we will unzip it and run the program. When we do this, the program interface will appear with a main menu completely in Spanish on the screen. On the left side of the panel there are three icon packs that are included by default. Each of these packs have 14 different icons or colors inside. We are going to be able to use them to personalize our folders, both with colors and with some images, so it gives us many options in this regard. At the bottom we find the button "Install", on which we will click so that Folder Paint will be added to the Windows context menu.
When we have done this, we just have to go to the folder and click on it with the right button to change the background color.
