DixMax does not work, why is it?

DixMax does not work

More and more users have been able to enjoy watching series and streaming movies through DixMax. This has been the great alternative for many of those who do not want to pay on platforms such as HBO o NetFlix. Although it is not exactly the same, the short is that the advantages are many. However, for a long time its users have encountered a problem: DixMax does not work.

Without a doubt, the positive points of DixMax were many and very remarkable, but there were also some shadows. Among the first we must mention the fact that it was a free alternative, or that it offered applications for Android, iOS and even Windows. On the other hand, from the beginning they reported many and frequent failures in your service, mainly because of the saturation of its servers.

Now we find that directly DixMax does not work. That is, their services are no longer available. In this post we are going to analyze the whole situation in general and see what are the alternatives that we have.

How did DixMax work?

DixMax appeared as an app specialized in streaming content to watch from mobile phones, available on both Android and iOS. There is also a web version that allows it to be used on a computer. All this, in any case, so completely free.

The operation of this application was really simple. All we have to do is register on its official website (dixmax.com). In the registration window you have to enter our e-mail, a username and a password.

Then it was enough to download the application and start searching its catalog of movies and series, ordered by number of views and by ratings from other users. Simple as that.

Legal problems with the DixMax website

dixmax closed

DixMax was discontinued on January 1, 2021

From the beginning the services offered by DixMax were in the sights of the authorities. Although its legality was the subject of controversy (there are conflicting opinions), given the possibility that its main domain would be prohibited, alternative domains such as dixmax.tech or dixmax.xyz were enabled.

But the legal battle ended with an adverse result for the platform's developers. Thus, since January 2021 when entering the DixMax website you can read the following statement:

Hello DixMax users and uploaders. Due to the recent closures of platforms similar to DixMax due to the modification of the intellectual property law (copyright) in the European Union that comes into force in 2021 we announce our website closure to avoid any blockage or unnecessary legal problems. This decision has not been taken lightly, it is for the security and privacy of all DixMax users and developers. We remember that the use of DixMax has always been, is and will be 100% safe and free. Our applications will continue operating as always 100% without any problem, except DixMax TV which will stop working on December 31, 2020 by decision of the developer and DixMax iOS which will stop working on January 1, 2021 by decision of the developer.

We have applications for almost all types of systems: DixMax Android (soon compatible with Android TV due to the closure of DixMax TV) and DixMax Desktop (Windows 7 onwards / Linux / MacOS) which you can download in the Applications tab (available at the beginning of page) or in the Telegram app channel (available at the bottom of the page).

About Link Upload: It will be available soon (if not already) in the DixMax Desktop applications.

We also announce that all our social networks will be eliminated except for Telegram and Twitter (which will only keep access to our Telegram).

It must be said that, to be fair, DixMax cannot be considered one of those websites that offers illegal or "pirated" content. However, the closure is motivated and perfectly legally supported if only one of the content offered does not have the corresponding use rights permissions.

A small disclaimer: it is far from our intentions to enter the debate between the defenders of free and open access to culture and intellectual property rights. We want to make it clear that In no way do we recommend from this website to break the law or encourage anyone to perform illegal downloads. It is in any case a merely informative article and focused on perfectly legal alternatives

Alternatives to DixMax

Whatever the reason, the reality is that DixMax does not work. No longer. That has orphaned content to not a few users around the world, who are now racking their brains in search of a solution or at least some other alternative. This is a selection of some of the best:

CrunchyRoll

CrunchyRoll

A good alternative to DixMax: CrunchyRoll

A well-known platform highly valued by anime fans. Those offered CrunchyRoll is a wide catalog of films and series of this genre of Japanese animation, traditionally oriented to fantasy and futuristic themes.

CrunchyRoll is a streaming content site that requires registration, although everything it offers us is free. In exchange for this, you have to patiently endure the constant presence of advertising, but this is quite common on all platforms that offer free services. If we want to avoid it, we always have the possibility of opting for the paid version.

Thousands of movie and series titles on the Internet Archive

It may not be the idea you have in your head when looking for alternatives to DixMax, but it is an option worth knowing. Internet Archive is a large non-profit digital library. All kinds of interesting things await us there, from digital books to television shows and movies. The site offers more than 25.000 titles of films, series and documentaries. And the number grows day by day.

It is a project conceived by Brewster-Kahle back in May 1996. It was born with the idea of keeping a copy of audiovisual content so that they are not lost and also to offer a free and universal access to knowledge.

If DixMax doesn't work, you can try to see what Open Culture offers

The approach of 00it goes along the same lines as the Internet Archive. This is a practical portal that compiles a huge list of links to movies hosted on YouTube and other legal download websites. In other words, this website does not offer content in itself, but shows us where we can get it.

What Open Culture does offer to its users is a short descriptive description of each of the contents, a brief but practical information on what they will be able to see.
