wordle football

More and more people have become hooked on Wordle, the word guessing game that tests our neurons. A hobby that now also conquers the hearts of fans of the so-called beautiful sport. In this post we are going to talk about football Wordle, one of the most curious and entertaining variants that challenge our knowledge regarding the world of the ball.

The game mechanics are practically the same as the classic Wordle. However, the words that are hidden and that we must discover are related to the world of football. As we will see below, there are games in which we have to find the name of a club, others in which we have to guess players and others in which the hidden word is a term related to this sport.

Soccer-Themed Wordle Games

This is a small selection of the different Wordle soccer games that we can have fun with:

footdle

In this mode, we have twelve attempts to guess the name of the hidden player. There are four fields to hit:

  • The demarcation (goalkeeper, defense, striker, etc.).
  • The name of the competition in which you play (Spanish League, Premier League, Bundesliga, etc.).
  • The nationality of the player.
  • The club in which he plays.

All these data appear in the attempts table when we choose a player name in the list on the right. If they are marked in red, it means that they do not match the data corresponding to the hidden player. If they appear in green, it means that they do match, which helps us refine the search.

In the example in the box above, after three attempts we already know that the player we are looking for is English and plays in the English league. He only has to hit the club and his position on the field. Interesting, right?

footdle, an idea developed by michael pullis, contains some other guessing player games worth trying. It includes players from the five major European leagues (Spain, Italy, France, the United Kingdom and Germany) and is constantly updated following the pace of the transfer and transfer market. The truth is that its degree of difficulty is a little higher than that of the traditional Wordle, but it will undoubtedly delight football fans.

Who are you?

who are you

The idea of this game is the same as Footdle. It consists of guessing the name of a footballer from the Premier League, LaLiga, the Italian Serie A, the Bundesliga or the French Ligue 1. For this we have eight attempts.

Furthermore, Who Are Ya? we can choose "Show Photo" to see a blurry image of the mysterious player or "Hide Photo" to not have additional clues. After each attempt, the information of each category will appear that will tell us if we are on the right track or not.

Although we only have eight chances to hit, we also have two more categories than Footdle to refine the search. In addition to nationality, team, competition and position on the field, we also have the player's age and jersey number.

In the example of the image, after four attempts, we have managed to outline the identity of the hidden player in three fields (competition, team and demarcation), which therefore appear marked in green. We have also chosen the option to show photo, so a diffuse image of the footballer's face appears, which could also help.

Finally, it should be noted that you can always resort to the button "Reveal Clue", which will appear next to the footballer's photo after viewing an advertising video.
