How to Put a Background Photo in PowerPoint

With PowerPoint we can do many things, and one of them is to add background images or photos to the slides. This is what we explain on this occasion, since there are many doubts about it. Luckily, it is very simple to carry out, and you only need to follow a few steps to do so.

Next, we will detail the steps to follow to put a background photo in a PowerPoint in recent versions of Microsoft PowerPoint and in the 2010 version, since the procedure is slightly different in both cases. At the same time, we explain how to remove said background photo from a slide, also in recent versions and in the 2010 version.

Insert a background photo in PowerPoint

Recent Office versions

  1. Right-click the slide you want, and then select the option Format the background.
  2. On the panel Format the background, Select Filling with image or texture.
  3. En insert image from, choose where to get the image from:
    1. Archive – Insert an image from your computer or a network drive.
    2. Clipboard – Insert a copied image (option not available if an image has not been previously copied).
    3. Online – Search for an image on the web.
  4. To adjust the relative brightness of the image, slide the transparency slider to the right.
  5. To apply the background image to all the slides in the presentation, select the apply to all option. Otherwise, just close the Background Format panel.

Office 2010 version

  1. Right-click the slide you want, then choose Format the background.
  2. In the menu of Filling, Click on Fill with image or texture.
  3. En Insert from, choose where to get the image from:
    1. Archive – Insert an image from your computer or a network drive.
    2. Clipboard – Insert a copied image (option not available if an image has not been previously copied).
    3. Predesigned images – Search the web for an image.
  4. To adjust the relative brightness of the image, slide the transparency slider to the right.
  5. To apply the image as the background of all the slides in the presentation, choose the option Apply to everything. Otherwise, click on Close.

Delete a background photo in PowerPoint

Recent Office versions

  1. In the view Normal, choose a slide with the background design or image you want to delete.
  2. In the Integrated on the ribbon toolbar, in the group Customize now on the far right, select Format the background.
  3. On the panel Background Format, riding a Filling, click on Solid fill.
  4. Select the down arrow next to the button Color. After this, a gallery of colors will appear. Choose the color white. Then the current background will be removed and the slide background will be white.
  5. To make the same change to the rest of the slides in the presentation, select Apply to all at the bottom of the pane Format the background.

Office 2010 version

  1. In the view Normal, select any slide with the background design or image you want to remove.
  2. In the Integrated on the ribbon toolbar at the top of PowerPoint, in the group Background on the far right, select Background Styles and then select Format the background. This will bring up the dialog Format the background.
  3. In the dialog, on the tab Fill, Select Solid fill.
  4. Tap the down arrow next to the button Color and, in the gallery of options, select the color white. This will cause the current background to be removed.
  5. To make the same change to the rest of the slides in the presentation, select Apply to everything.
  6. Finally, click on the button Close.
