If you're looking for games similar to Fortnite, the first thing you should know is what kind of game you are looking for. Fortnite is a third-person game, type Battle Royale in which we must master the art of construction to attack or defend ourselves from an enemy. Although it seems complicated initially, with a few small tricks you can be an expert in Fortnite.
The Epic Games game it was not born as a battle royale when it hit the market in June 2017, but as a cooperative game with other players where you have to complete missions baptized as Save the world. A few months earlier, Tencent had released PlayerUnknow's Battlegrounds, better known as PUBG, a Battle Royale-type game that became a worldwide bestseller.
Three months after the launch of Fortnite: Save the World, on Epic recognized the success of PUBG and they launched a Battle Royale mode completely free with in-app purchases that do not affect the players' skills, only aesthetics.
This new game mode managed to attract more than 10 million players in the first two weeks of launch, reaching almost 50 million in March 2018. The Save the world mode is still available, however, as it is paid, it is not as widespread as the Battle Royale.
What is a Battle Royale
The Battle Royale game mode is a video game genre that combines survival with the skill of the players, since the game is won by the last player standing. If it is a team made up of several people, it is the last team standing who wins the game.
Players will be able to freely choose their starting point using their parachute and without any weapons, weapons that they have to search for in order to eliminate opponents. Also, as the minutes go by, the playing area is shrinking, gathering the remaining players in a smaller and smaller area, forcing players to move around the map and face their enemies.

Despite not being a free game on PC, it has a price of 29,99 euros on Steam (the same price at which we can find it on consoles), it quickly became a sales and user success, being today the best-selling PC video game with almost 45 million copies, above Minecraft, Diablo III, and World of Warcraft.
PUBG offers us four different maps (Erangel, Miramar, Sanhok and Vikendi) that vary in size from 8 × 8 to 4 × 4 km. To these fixed maps, we have to add other rotating maps such as Karakin, Paramo and Haven in addition to others that are only available in the mobile version.
This game is one of the most difficult of this modality of game since not only does it not show you where the shots are coming from, but also, the control of the weapons is much more complicated than in other titles.
This is because PlayerUnknow's Battegrounds is one of the games more faithful to reality, where once you die, you can no longer resurrect as if it happens in other titles such as Fortnite and Warzone. All the weapons that appear in the game are real and reflect as accurately as possible both the recoil, the rate of fire and the damage they cause both in vests and helmets.
H1Z1
El first title that reached the video game market using the Battle Royale mode was H1Z1, a game that arrived on Steam in early access in 2015, but it was not until 2018, when the final version was released on both Steam and PS4.
Today it has such a small community of users that the games that originally grouped 100 people, has been reduced to 10, like the combat zone also reduced to the minimum expression. The developers have not known how to improve a title whose graphics and gameplay leave much to be desired.

Call of Duty: War zone
Call of Duty: Warzone has been one of the last Battle Royale to hit the market, it did so in March 2020, however, today it is, along with Fortnite, one of the most popular games in the world. Part of its success is because it's completely free integrating a series of purchases within the application that only affect the aesthetics of both the weapons and the players.
As soon as we land we have a gun. If we are eliminated during the game, we will go to Gulag, where if we beat our opponent, we can go back to the game. If we lose, we will be completely dependent on the money our teammates can raise to redeploy on the map.

- Ultimate ability. The ultimate ability, as its name describes well, is the character's strongest ability, a skill that takes time to recharge, which differs between each character. Some of these skills are creating dimensional portals, launching air attacks or toxic gas bombs, putting zip lines, mounting a machine gun ...
This title is available for free at PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch with the Crossplay function. At the moment there is no version for mobile devices but according to Respaw, creator of the game, they are working on it. It is available for download for free on all platforms.
Every new season a new character is introduced. In April 2021, we have 16 different characters, characters that we can unlock by making use of purchases with game money or with points that we get as we play.
Hyper scape
Ubisoft's bet on the Battel Royale is called Hyper Scape, a title that was developed in a futuristic city, which brings together 100 people in the same game. The action takes place in 2054, where technology is everywhere.
Each character can use the skills found, that is, the skills are not associated with specific characters and allow us to recover our fallen comrades in combat. The team that wins is the one that gets the crown and keeps it for 1 minute without the enemy snatching it from them.

Realm Royale
Realm Royale is an interesting Battle Royale, similar to Apex Legends, where each character has special abilities and many compare it to one Battle Royale version of Overwatch.
Unlike this, we can only play in third person, is completely free and is available on both PC and PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch with crossplay.
Garena Free Fire
Free Fire is the latest survival game available only for mobile devices. Each game lasts 10 minutes and it places us on a remote island with 49 other players looking to survive.
This title offers us the same gameplay that we can find in PUBG Mobile or Call of Duty Mobile but with some quite improvable graphics as well as the movements of the characters. It can only be played in the third person and is available for download completely free of charge.
