If you are studying to obtain your driver's license (we are referring to the theoretical exam, the practical one is another matter), you already know that one of the keys to success is to study hard and complete many tests. Probably at the driving school they will have already explained to you what the test you are going to have to face is like: the theoretical driving test (type B license) consists of a multiple choice test with 30 questions. The self-assessment test is designed to reproduce as faithfully as possible the exam that we are going to encounter in reality. The idea is that the applicant finds himself in a more familiar situation at the time of the exam, thus relieving the logical nerves a bit.
When we start the self-assessment test, a message appears on the screen asking the user for the type and number of identity document. There is no need to worry, the test does not count for anything, it is just a way of measuring our options. Then, you have to press the “Enter” button.
And that's how it starts mock exam: One question is displayed per screen, with three answer options for each one. The "Previous" and "Next" tabs allow us to move forward or backward through the exam. We have 30 minutes to complete the test.
Once we have finished the self-assessment test, you have to click on "Finish test", after which the results will appear, with their successes and failures. The best thing is that the latter appear corrected. This valuable information will be key to improving and taking the exam with all the guarantees.
Requirements to take the driving test
Apart from studying and practicing the tests to ensure success in the test, it is worth remembering what the requirements are to be able to take the exam. The main document that they are going to ask us for is a medical certificate of psychophysical aptitudes. This report, popularly known as a "psychotechnical certificate" is obtained at Driver Recognition Centers authorized by the General Directorate of Traffic after successfully passing the following tests:
- Report on the general state of health.
- Reflexes and coordination test
- Sight test.
- Hearing test.
This document is valid for three months to take the theoretical exam and two years for the practical one. If we let this period pass without obtaining our driver's license, it will no longer be valid and it will be necessary to repeat it.
Obviously, in addition to presenting the psychotechnical certificate, you will also have to pay exam fees, which currently amount to €93,12.
Two ways to take the exam
The DGT offers two different modalities to take the driving test: general modality or free candidate. The level of difficulty is the same for both, hence the importance of having practiced a lot with the DGT self-assessment tests to aspire to pass it with guarantees.
general modality
It is the classic way to prepare, through a driving school. We have their services in the field of training (theoretical classes) and also when carrying out the procedures to take the theoretical exam when the time comes. free candidate
Many people cannot attend a driving school due to schedule or availability issues. Or simply because they prefer prepare the exam on your own. In Spain there is the possibility of studying at home and applying for free, which is, on the other hand, cheaper.
