The problems with the Apple Safari browser are few but they exist and in this case we are going to see some of them and, most importantly, how we can solve them. Logically we have to take into account that the problems with the navigators are more and more scarce but in all they exist.
This time we are going to see the problems that we can find with the Mac Safari browser and its solution. It is less and less frequent to have problems and with the latest versions of the browser (which in this case is Safari 14) several bugs have been corrected but we can always have some so let's see several cases.
These are the most frequent problems with Safari
One of the things that we have to take into account is the number of options that current browsers offer us and this can also be counterproductive since we may have more problems of use. Problems browsing the Internet, unexpected restarts or even web pages that do not appear in the browser are just some of the problems that we can find in Safari.

Why is Safari not working?
Safari may not work directly and this may be due to various reasons. One of them is because the browser is not updated to the latest version available and for this the solution simply goes through an update.
The version of Safari is updated from time to time and you may not have the latest version installed. In this case we simply have to access the app store (in case of an old operating system) or System Preferences> Software update to update to the latest version available.
On the other hand, a detail that may seem absurd but is absolutely necessary is having an Internet connection. In some cases we can have network connection problems and Safari problems are precisely for this reason, so check on the right side of the menu bar that you have the equipment correctly connected to the network. For this you can also open another app such as Mail for example, and check the correct connection.
Clear Safari history
Sometimes a web page can cause navigation problems and the trace it leaves on our computer can be part of this problem. In this case, the simplest thing is to completely erase the Safari history and for this we simply have to directly access the upper menu bar and in the History tab, click on the option: «Delete history ...»
In this sense, the history offers several options to be deleted. We find the option to delete the history when we click on the drop-down and it is not necessary to delete everything, but yes it is interesting to do it in the case of having problems with Safari.
Module problems
Another of the most common problems is having problems with modules. This happens when we visit a web page and the videos or the segments of it fail, it may be the case that you see a placeholder with a button that describes the problem of the module and in this sense the problem is most likely that it is an old, missing or blocked module.
To solve these problems with the modules, the only thing we can do is try click on the placeholder button, in this case it could be solved with this action but you can also directly close the browser and reopen, let's do a little reset.
Restore Safari on old computers
This option may appear if you have a Mac with the old operating system so do not hesitate to try. I think I remember that in macOS Yosemite Apple dropped this option to restore Safari but if you have an old computer you can do it.
To perform this action we have to open the Safari browser and select the Safari tab in the top menu. Once there you will find the option Restore Safari, we choose the data that we want to erase and restore, press and that's it.
We repeat that this option is not available on more current computers with new versions.
Activate safe mode
This is one of those actions that can be used to fix other problems but also works for Safari crashes. It is possible that sometimes the computer fails more than usual and we have to activate the safe mode to check that everything is working well, for this we simply have to turn off the Mac. Just when it starts we will press on the Shift key and when we see the logo Apple will release.
To know that the computer has started in safe mode, we simply have to click on the system information by doing click on the icon apple> About this Mac> System report> Software. Instead of "Normal" it will put "Safe".
In this way the safe mode is activated and you can check that everything works correctly. Once verified that everything is working well we simply have to restart our computer without touching any key and it will start as usual.
Activate the Development menu and clear the cache
Another common problem in Safari can be caused by the cache. In this case the advice is activate the Development menu in Safari and then clear the cache. To activate the Development menu on the top bar we will go to Safari> Preferences> Advanced. At the bottom we find the option «Show the Development menu in the menu bar» we activate it.
Now we will see a new menu in the Safari bar and in the middle part we come across the option «Empty cache memories ...» we press it and that's it. Be careful with this since it will eliminate the passwords and other shortcuts that we have stored in the system cache, it is not a problem but we must bear in mind that we will have to put some passwords on websites and others.
Safari does not allow you to open a website
This is rare but you can run into it so in these cases what you have to do is read the message that appears in the window when the page does not open. Anyway, make sure the address is well written and in case you need a VPN that works correctly.
Two options that usually work quite well are to open it by typing "/index.html" or "/index.htm" at the end of the web address that we have written, but in any case if the page still does not open, exit Safari, reopen and then try again. The next option is to select View> Reload page and wait to see if it loads.
Safari extensions
It is possible that now the Safari extensions give you less problems in the browser than before and that is because right now what Apple did was transfer all of them to the Mac App Store to be able to use them on your computer. In any case, extensions sometimes also cause failures and to detect problems the system will send a notification about the problem through a pop-up window or warning.
All these Safari extensions are managed in a simpler way now but there have also been limited uses. To access the extensions that we have installed we simply have to click on the menu Safari> Extensions. This will take us directly to the App Store and from there we can delete or modify the extension that is causing the problem.
