Spotify is the preferred platform for millions of people around the world to listen to music and podcasts. The reasons go beyond its immense sound catalog and how easy it is to enjoy its functions through the official app. We must also mention some specific characteristics, such as the spotify group session, which delight their users.
The popular streaming music platform launched this service in mid-2020. The basic idea is that multiple users can access control of the same playlist. A resource that many Spotify users still don't use or are even unaware of.

Create a Spotify group session
These are the steps we must follow to create a Spotify group session and enjoy the advantages it offers us:
- The first thing we have to do is open the Spotify app on our mobile device.
- Then we play the music that we want to share with other users.
- Once this is done, press the button "Connect to a device", which is on the bottom left of the screen (the little icon for the screen and speaker). The chosen device can be, for example, a bluetooth speaker from which all connected users can listen to music.
- Finally, we click on «Start session» and then «Start a group session ».
Once the steps have been executed and the Spotify group session has been launched, we only have to use the button «Iinvite friends». These invitations can be sent through social networks or by messaging. Below the list of devices is the session code. Other users will need to scan it to join the session.
The usernames that are connecting to the group session on Spotify will appear on the screen next to their profile image. An explanatory text is also shown in which it is specified that each of the participants will be able to choose and control the music that is playing.
A detail to keep in mind: when we start a group session, the music will start playing on each and every one of the connected personal devices instead of the only device chosen for playback (the bluetooth speaker in the example above). To solve it, you just have to lower the volume of the other devices. Simple as that.
Log out of a Spotify group session
All parties are over. It is sad but true. That's when it's time to shut down the group version of Spotify. For the guests, the way to do it is very simple: you just have to click on the button "Exit Session". After this, we will stop listening to the music from our device. At the same time, we will lose control of the main playback.
If we are the creators of the group, the button we have to press is the "End session". The immediate effects of this action is that guest users will no longer have access to the replay. So it will be only us who control the music that sounds on our device.

As we indicated at the beginning, to be able to enjoy the Spotify group session it is necessary to have a premium account. These are the four options that the platform offers us. For all of them there is a free trial month to test this and other interesting functions:

- Family (€17,99 per month, maximum 6 accounts).
- Students (€5,99 per month, maximum 1 account). You must prove your university student status with a valid legal document.
