How to change the twitter X icon and always have the old one

twitter

Users Twitter from all over the world were met at the end of July with a surprise when launching the application. The famous blue bird, the recognized logo of the social network, had disappeared. In its place was a mysterious "X." Baffled, many people wondered what they could do to change twitter icon X.

It does not seem like a one-off change, nor an Elon Musk joke. The change seems permanent. The desktop version can now be accessed via the x.com domain (although the twitter.com address is still active as well).

What does the X mean?

Why has the little blue bird flown? Why has it been replaced by an "X"? What does this new logo mean? To answer all these questions, Musk uploaded a post to the network where he explained that he had promised to change the logo of the platform if any user proposed a better one. Apparently, the "X" designed by a tweeter named Sawyer Merritt convinced him. A unique typeface white X, created expressly for this purpose, on a black background.

Everything else is unknown. We don't know if that X is just a sample of a later, somewhat more elaborate logo (admittedly, the "X" is a bit plain and bland). In any case, one more move by the new owner of Twitter, which seems determined to completely change the appearance and functions of this social network.

Surely this is by no means the last change that we are going to witness around Twitter. You have to be prepared for anything. At the moment, using the word "tweet" and the verb "tweet" seems to stop making sense on a platform that is no longer called Twitter. Or maybe yes?

The trick to keep the Twitter bird logo

For many users, this recent change does not mean anything beyond the purely aesthetic. However, there are others who have not taken it well and have raised their voices against the umpteenth occurrence of Elon Musk. Not only that: some have even devised a trick to change the Twitter icon "X" and return to the original logo of the little bird.

On Android

Actually, on Android the trick goes through use an app specially designed to change one icon for another. The icon in question is whatever we want, but we can also use it to put the classic Twitter logo back on our mobile. The app is called X Icon Changer. These are its download links for both Android and iPhone:

Once the application has been downloaded and installed on our mobile device (the download is free), these are the steps to follow to change the Twitter "X" icon and return to the original:

  1. First We open the app and look for Twitter in the list of applications.
  2. Then we have to choose icon that we want to apply to this social network. The easiest way to do this is to search for the classic Twitter logo on Google, download it, and then upload it to the app.
  3. Then we press the button «Donate» to accept the request to create a shortcut.

And that's it. The application will take care of adjusting the size automatically so that it appears with the same aspect as any other of our applications.

The good thing about using X Icon Changer is that we can put the icon we want. In the previous example we have explained the case of "recovering" the blue bird icon on Twitter, but the app can also be used to customize our Twitter with the images we want.

On iPhone and iPad

The process to change the Twitter icon "X" and return to the original on an Apple device it's even simpler. The steps that we explain will help us to do it in a simple way on our iPad or iPhone. This is how we can "bring back" the little blue bird:

The previous step is to download the original Twitter icon on our iPhone through this link. Once this is done, we can start the process (it's a bit long, but quite simple):

  1. First, we access the app "Shortcuts" of our iPhone.
  2. Then we press the button "+", which is in the upper right part of the screen.
  3. Then we will "New Shortcut".
  4. Then we select the option "Rename" and there we write the word Twitter.
  5. We press "Add action".
  6. Let «Open App» and then click on the button "App".
  7. The next step is to look for the X and select the application, after which we press the button "OKAY".
  8. Then click on the icon of the 3 points of the Twitter shortcut and select “Add to home screen”.
  9. Finally, we select the icon and in select photo, we choose the Twitter icon that we have previously downloaded and click on "Add".
