DAZN
One more year, the F1 broadcast rights for 2022 are in the hands of the streaming platform DAZN, the, we could call, Netflix of sports. Being F1 one of its main attractions, along with Moto GP, it could not let the rights end up falling to other companies.
Although the first race for 2022 is scheduled for March 20, DAZN will begin its broadcasts from the 1st of that same month and will do so with its usual team of commentators: Antonio Lobato, Cristal Rosaleny, Pedro Martínez de la Rosa and Tony Cuquerella.
DAZN is not a payment platform that is priced at 9,99 euros per month or 99,99 euros per year if you pay for a full year, which allows you to save two months of subscription.
If you are not sure if it is really worth paying for this service, I recommend that when the month of March begins, you sign up and use the free trial month that the platform makes available to us.
DAZN is available on both iOS and Android, but it is also available for smart TVs. In addition, you can also access its content through a browser.
Movistar F1
For all those users who are Movistar customers, they do not need to pay to watch F1 through DAZN, since this company shares the rights (rather, it has sold part of the rights) to Movistar.
Thanks to this agreement, you can enjoy F1 through the channels DAZN 1 (dial 59) and DAZN 2 (dial 60). The broadcast through these channels is the same as that broadcast through DAZN, so you will not notice any difference in the content regardless of which platform of the two you use.
F1TV
The company that manages the rights of F1 is Liberty Media, a company that also has a platform to enjoy the World Cup without depending on other platforms called F1TV.
Bearing in mind that in addition to the image, it offers information on the vehicles on the track, a map of the circuit and cameras on the 20 drivers, with this platform you will be able to experience F1 as if you were on the circuit.
The problem is that this application is not available for smart TVs, but it is for Android, so if you have an Android TV Box, you can enjoy all that information on a large screen. It also works via the web.
This option is the best of all, as long as you live outside of Spain (you can use a VPN to access this platform from Spain), since Movistar manages the rights here. Depending on the type of plan you hire, the monthly fee varies between 6 and 10 euros per month.
Through international channels
F1 does not pay in all countries. In some countries such as France and England, Formula 1 is broadcast through open channels completely free of charge. If you have the option of using an IPTV application or access via satellite, you can enjoy F1 completely free of charge.
With applications like Kodi and VLC you can enjoy F1 through IPTV in a completely legal way by accessing the channels that broadcast F1 free to air. If you want to know through which channels you can access F1 2022 completely free of charge, here is a list:
Canal | Country | Language |
RTSH Sports | Albania | Albano |
Network Ten | Australia | English |
TV | Azerbaiyán | Azerbaijani |
Globe | Brazil | Portuguese |
CCTV-5 | China | Mandarin Chinese |
Guangdong Sports | China | Cantons |
SPTV | Croatia | Croatian |
TF1 | France | French |
TMC | France | French |
Channel 4 UK | Ireland | English |
MBC Persian | Iran | Persian |
irib varzesh | Iran | Persian |
MBC | Middle East | Arabic/Persian |
Viasat 4 | Norway | Norwegian |
ABC | Puerto Rico | English Spanish |
TV match | Russia | Russian |
Channel 4 | United Kingdom | English |
ABC | United States | English |
We can also opt for platforms such as Photocall. Through this platform we have access to a large number of channels from all over the world, channels that we can access completely free of charge, since they do nothing more than capture the live signal of their web pages.
However, it is likely that we will be forced to use a VPN. This is due, once again, to broadcast rights, which are restricted to certain countries.
Mediaset
One more year, the Spanish Grand Prix will be available live through the Mediaset group, as in 2021, although at the moment it is still unknown which channel (Tele 5 or Cuatro) will broadcast it. It will be in the month of May, when the race is held, when this group announces how this race will be completely free.
