One of the options that we have available in current devices is to share the WiFi network with other devices. We can say that today it is really easy to share the connection with other devices but a few years ago some operators even charged us for activating this option on them. In any case, what interests us now is to know how we can share WiFi between devices from a PC or from a mobile device, so let's get to it.
Today everything is connected to the network from a smartphone or tablet, to a television, a speaker, consoles or even the home automation devices of our home. That is why having a good internet connection is basic but having a router or access point for the connection is important. So you can share the internet from your devices.
Share WiFi from a PC
For those who use a Windows 10 PC sharing the Internet is very simple. Each new version of Windows improves in this regard and in previous versions of Windows it is somewhat more complicated to manage this connection. In theory we all have to be on the Windows 10 version already, so we will focus on it.
- The first thing is to access the Start> Settings> Networks and Internet and click on Mobile wireless coverage zone
- Once there we simply have to click on Share my internet connection and select the connection from which we access the network with our Windows PC. Then we activate the option Share my Internet connection with other devices.
Now you are ready to start sharing the network connection with other computers. Access to the PC's WiFi will depend on many factors but mainly the physical distance between the teams must be taken into account since this can affect the speed and above all the connectivity itself. We look for the name of the network and put the password to start enjoying the internet connection.
Share WiFi from a Mac
For Apple users and in this case from a Mac, it is also possible to share the connection and for this you simply have to access System Preferences and follow the steps that we show you below. It is important to use a password for these types of connections.
- The first thing is to choose the option Share within System Preferencesthen, we select the option Share internet.
- Click on the drop-down menu "Share connection from”And then we select the Internet connection that we want to share. In my case, I have the iMac connected to the Internet via an Ethernet cable, so I can select Ethernet.
- Select how you want to share your Internet connection in the «With other computers via«. In my case, what is marked is to share the Internet connection through Wi-Fi. If you share the Internet connection with Wi-Fi, click on "Wi-Fi Options", assign a name to the network, click on the Security drop-down menu, select "WPA2 Personal", enter a password and then OK .
With these steps we would already be sharing the connection and now we will simply have to connect the device we want. Logically you have to have the computer turned on to share the internet, when this is turned off we will be left without connection as with the rest of the options.
Share WiFi from an Android device
To share connection from your Android device you can use the option share data via WiFi or via Bluetooth. But let's go with the first one, which is the one that most people use. To create a WiFi access point from your Android you have to follow these simple steps:
- The first thing is to go to the Settings of the smartphone and enter the option WiFi zone / Share connection
- Once we are at this point, we simply click on "WiFi access point" and activate
We add a password and we can start using the access point from our smartphone mobile data. This option is for those who have unlimited data rates or for those who need a point of access to the network, remember that battery and data consumption will be quite high when we are sharing connectionn.
Share the connection via Bluetooth
To share the connection through Bluetooth it is quite similar to the previous one shown and this method the good thing it has is that it will not disconnect the WiFi connection, so we can use this with another device that does not have WiFi but does have a Bluetooth connection option.
To activate this option we have to go to Settings> Network and Internet> Wi-Fi hotspot / Share connection and activate the option Share connection via Bluetooth. When you have this activated, you simply have to access the other device and connect via Bluetooth to the device from which we share the connection.
Share WiFi from iOS devices
Finally, for those iOS users who want to share the internet from their iPhone or iPad, it is also possible to do so and it is really simple to carry out. In this case the access names vary from those of Android but the process is just as simple. To start, what we have to do is access the Settings of our iPhone or iPad.
Now we have to click on the option that says "Personal Access Point" that will be disabled and possibly without any password if we have never shared a connection before. Click on the option "Allow others to connect" and add an access password. The access point will be the name of our iPhone or iPad.
In iOS it is also possible to connect via Bluetooth and for this we simply have to link the iPhone or iPad with the computer, enter the code shown and start enjoying data sharing.
Remember that in the case of mobile devices, the connection to the data network may end our rate and the device's battery is consumed quickly. Having the iPhone or iPad connected to the charger can heat up the devices, so it is advisable to use these internet sharing options occasionally and only when absolutely necessary. Every time we have devices with higher battery capacity and data rates with more megabytes, but if you can connect to a secure WiFi network it will always be better.
