How to use Spotify as an alarm clock on Android and iPhone

Spotify alarm clock

Waking up in the morning to go to work or study is usually one of the worst times of the day. However, this difficult moment can be somewhat more pleasant if, instead of an annoying alert beep, we hear the chords of one of our favorite songs. In this post we will teach you how use spotify as alarm clock, both on Android and iPhone.

Playing music via streaming, which is what it offers Spotify to its users, means that we can transform any mobile phone into an improvised alarm clock. In short, it means having a lot of songs and melodies to get us out of bed and start the day on the right foot.

This option has been available since 2018, when Google implemented a series of changes and improvements in the Alarm Clock app. From that moment on, it was possible to alarm integration with Spotify (he also did the same with YouTube Music later). Obviously, this only applies to Android devices. Google Clock usually comes installed on most mobile devices. If not, you can download it from the PlayStore:

It should be noted that the possibility of using Spotify as an alarm clock works for both free users of the application and premium subscribers, although obviously the former will have fewer customization options than the latter.

Set an alarm with Spotify on Android

To use Spotify as an alarm clock on an Android device, the first thing we have to do is connect the application to the Google Clock (Google Clock). This action is very easy: all you have to do is open Spotify and click on the button "Connect".

To ensure that everything will work correctly, we must ensure that the latest Google Watch update and Android version 5.0 Lollipop or higher are installed. Once this is done, these are the steps to follow:

  1. First of all, we open Google Clock.
  2. There we select the alarm music that we want to apply or we click on the "+" icon to create a new one.
  3. Then we click on the icon Sounds.
  4. Next, click on the tab Spotify.
  5. Finally, we click on Connect to start using our favorite music from the app as an alarm.

And what happens if we have an iPhone? Is it also possible to use Spotify as an alarm clock on iOS? Of course, it can be done, although in a different way. The thing is that the Google Clock app is not available in the Apple Store, so you have to find other ways to do it.

The solution we can resort to (which, by the way, also works for Android phones) is to use programs like Spotify Music Converter o TuneFab Spotify Music Converter. These are two popular apps that allow us to download songs and convert them to other formats for personal use.

Both options work basically the same way, with three phases: a first phase to convert the song, a second to transfer it to the iPhone and a third to use the song as an alarm:

Convert song

  1. First we open the converter program that we have chosen.
  2. Then you have to add to the song using the "+" button or the option «Add audio».
  3. After this, a new window appears where we can paste the URL of the song and press "Accept".
  4. The next step is to use the button Settings to select the output format, quality and other technical aspects.
  5. Finally, we click on the button "Turn into" to download the song.

Transfer it to iPhone

In this phase you have to use iTunes or any other iPhone manager to transfer the converted music from Spotify to iPhone. Among other things, we will be able to choose which part of the audio we want to sound as an alarm clock.

Use it as an alarm

Almost everything is done now. Now you just need to activate the alarm clock in Spotify with the selected song. This is how we can do it: First let's Clock, click on the option Edit and we choose Sound. Then a list will appear with all the available ringtones, among which will also be the chosen Spotify song.

Alarm clock applications

Finally, we always have the possibility of using an external application to install on our mobile phone and use it to replace the basic alarm sounds that we all have on our devices. Some of these apps even allow us to use Spotify's immense music catalog, so they can be a good solution:

Mornify (Android)

mornify

Mornify is an application only available on Android that allows us to import our music from Spotify and add songs to our alarms. Search for your favorite artists and playlists. One of its great advantages is that it does not need to have an Internet connection for it to work (as long as we have a Spotify Premium account).
