WhatsApp is working on a function that it had been anticipating for some time, this will serve to share files with nearby devices without having to have a chat open. The new tool is called "ThunderStorm" and will detect devices in close range with file sharing enabled. When you click on the search, a radar window will appear indicating the process in operation, along with a small radar animation at the top.
How will this new tool work?
To search for nearby devices you will need to enable Bluetooth and, in this way, locate the device with which you want to share the files. It will even be possible configure the screen so that others can identify the device and share content. As soon as the transfer has been accepted, WhatsApp will be responsible for transmitting the files without intervention from the application's chats.
The file sharing function on WhatsApp will be active for both Android and iPhone. Now it will be easier to exchange photos, videos or documents between users, regardless of the system they have.
Not just sharing files: more news coming to WhatsApp
The function of sharing nearby files is not the only new feature that WhatsApp brings us. It also has other very exciting ones prepared for its users:
- Voice memo transcription: You will be able to obtain a text transcription of the voice notes received.
- sticker editor- This feature allows you to create your own stickers from the application, selecting photos from your gallery and editing them according to your preferences.
- Filter messages by date range- You will be able to filter messages within a conversation within a specific date range, making it easier to search for old messages.
- Redesign of the States and Communities tab: WhatsApp plans a redesign of these tabs for a cleaner experience, in addition to allowing the status upload up to one minute long.
- Media quality settings- A feature that will allow you to configure the application so that all the multimedia content you send is transmitted in high quality by default.
- Incorporation of PaSKeys- This addition will allow users to verify their identity and access the application using their device's biometric sensors, such as Face ID or the fingerprint reader.
- New navigation options- Options will be implemented to navigate between tabs by swiping, pin more conversations to the top, and filter conversations by custom categories.
- Pin messages: whether in individual or group chats, messages can be pinned to the top of these. In the case of group chats, administrators will be the ones who will give permission to other members to post a specific message. When you post a message, the system will notify other members that a message has just been posted and who just posted it.
