Unfortunately, we have accepted as a normal situation that we are bombarded every day and at all hours with annoying advertising calls: telephone operators, insurance companies, companies that want to sell us their products... The most effective solution is to block, but what what happens when the call comes from a number we can't see? Can a hidden number be blocked?
Normally, companies that want to sell us something do not use the resource of the hidden number. This is more like people who want to contact us without revealing their identity. Something that, in principle, does not interest us at all. We may be curious to know who it is (there are ways to find out, as we explain at the end of the post), but if what we want is to get rid of this nuisance, it is best to block.
In this post we are going to see how we can do this from an iPhone or from an Android phone. In the first case it is much easier than in the second, although it is possible to do it with both.
Block a hidden number on iPhone
Performing this operation on an iPhone is relatively simple, since Apple takes care of providing us with several ways to achieve it. Specifically, these phones have a specific tool that we will be able to use without affecting the normal performance of the device at all.
Best of all, you can establish a block on all calls from hidden numbers in general (it doesn't matter if you block one by one). That is to say, the iPhone will take care of detecting these calls and ignoring them. The user will not see anything on the screen, nor will they hear any notification sounds. It is as if the call had never occurred, although in reality it will be recorded to be able to check how many and when they have been sent.
To activate this lock, you must do the following:
- First of all, we go to the menu of Configuration from our iPhone (by clicking on the gear-shaped icon).
- Then we go to the section "Telephone".
- Within this menu, we find the option "Mute unknown calls" or another with a similar name.
- First of all, the button to use this option is deactivated. You just have to click on it for it to become active and the blocking starts to work.
Block a hidden number on Android
Unlike iOS, on Android there is no native function to block a hidden number. That is why we have no choice but to resort to external applications. Only in some certain personalization layers (MIUI, One UI and others) we found this possibility, which can be implemented by following these steps:
- We open the phone application.
- We select “Settings”.
- We look for the "Filters" or "Block calls" option.
- Finally, we block hidden numbers.
But if we do not have these customization layers (this will be the case in most cases), to achieve this blocking function we can use one of the apps specifically dedicated to this task which are available on Google Play. Receiving calls from hidden numbers is never pleasant. Not only because of the inconvenience that these advertising calls cause us after hours, but also because whoever calls us may have bad intentions: harassing calls or that hang up when we answer to call us again.
