Last year a game appeared on the Internet that ended up hooking millions of people around the world: Wordle. It is a simple game whose objective is to guess a hidden word. In the wake of its initial success, versions and adaptations such as Squirdle, the Wordle from Pokémon, which we are going to talk about in this post.
For those who don't know Wordle yet (although its popularity is enormous), we will briefly say that it is a word guessing game, with a visual format similar to that of the classic crossword puzzles and with some points in common with other games like Mastermind. We only have six chances to guess the word.
Every time we make an attempt, we must write a valid word. Wordle then tells us which letters we have entered are valid and which are not. Those are the clues that will help us advance in the game and finally solve the hidden word. As simple as that.
The game itself encourages us to share the results on our social networks and compete with friends and acquaintances in a very entertaining pastime that will also help us stimulate our neurons.
Starting with the original version of the game, others of a thematic type or oriented to a different player profile have appeared. Among them, Squirdle has arrived to open this game to pokemon universe. A really curious proposition.
Squirdle (not Squirtle)
The first thing we have to say about the Squirle, the Pokémon Wordle, is that it should not be confused with Squirtle, a water Pokémon that is also one of the best-known characters in the game, already present since the first generation.
Precisely the choice of Squirdle's name is born from the fusion of both concepts: Wordle + Squirtle, thus winking at Pokémon fans to encourage them to play.
How to play Squirdle
If you've ever played Wordle before, you won't have much difficulty adapting to the Pokémon version, since the game mechanics are practically the same. Of course, it will be important to have solid knowledge of the Pokémon world, which is why this version is specially designed for the most fans. You can directly access the game through this link.
Squirdle's goal is to guess the name of the mysterious Pokémon that is hidden behind the colored balls. And each of them goes a letter. To achieve this, we have a maximum of 7 attempts.
The first thing to do is enter a name of a Pokémon, after which they will appear five tracks that will help us find the solution:
- Generation.
- 1 type.
- 2 type.
- Height.
- Weight :.
After entering the first name, a Pokémon Ball will be displayed under each of the tracks listed above. Each of these balls can have different colors, which also provide us with new clues to guess:
- Green with white tick It means that we have hit the category.
- Red with white X: tells us that we have failed in the category, so we have to keep trying.
- Blue with up arrow It means that the generation, height or weight is higher.
- blue ball with arrow down It means that the generation, height or weight is lower.
All these clues will guide us to write the name of a new Pokémon to get closer to the final result. After doing so, a new row of balls appears. The ideal is to refine each attempt to reach the correct final result: five green balls.
To help us a little with the task (it is almost impossible to memorize all the names of the Pokémon), in the search box, when entering the first letter, a list of all the Pokémon whose name begins with the same initial appears.
All this makes Squirdle very interesting and fun entertainment for pokemon lovers, as well as a good way to test your knowledge and challenge other friends to see who knows the most.
Other versions of Wordle
Beyond Squirdle, there are many other versions of the game based on the classic version of Wordle. Here are some of the most interesting and fun:
- Wordle with tildes. Basically the same game, but taking into account the tildes, which complicates the challenge a bit more.
- Trial. The challenge is to guess the maximum number of words in five minutes.
- Kids. The words to guess only have three letters.
- nerdle, a Wordle that changes letters to numbers.
- Dordle. Two boards with two words. You have to guess both without getting confused. It has a variant of four words (Quordle) and another of eight (Octordle).
- Lewdle. Probably the most curious variant of this game, although only available in English. The words to guess are swear words, curse words and swear words.
