It doesn't matter what it's for; there will always be, at least once, the need to know how to use this document editing program, whether to solve an unforeseen event, qualify for a job or help a friend, colleague, family member or acquaintance.

Fortunately, it is not difficult to learn to use Word. Join two tables in Word is one of the easiest things to do. It does not take more than a few seconds and you only have to perform the following steps that we now indicate:

  2. Then click on the button Panel and configure the tables as you see fit, with the rows and columns you want for each one. Here it becomes your choice how you want them.
  3. After already having the tables inserted in the Word document, you must eliminate the spaces between them, and then press on the Suppress, also abbreviated as Del on most keyboards, until both tables are combined. With this you will have a single table as a result. This is the way we recommend, as it keeps the formats of each table as they were predefined from the creation of the same.
  4. Alternatively moving either of the two tables via mouse or mouse, by clicking on the icon with the four arrows that appears in the upper left corner of the tables. In this case, we recommend moving the table from the bottom and not the one from above, since a thick and marked line of the division may appear that reveals the combination of both, which can also appear if the tables have different numbers of columns or rows .

On the other hand, you can combine them however you want, either by inserting one table into the other, in the box you prefer, or however you like. In turn, keep in mind that if the tables have different styles and designs, they will still be combined, but they will keep both styles, so you must first resemble them in the customization section. Then you can give it the design you want to your liking and configure it with more rows and columns.

Other methods

We already explained the simplest way to join two tables in a Word document. We also indicate how to do it with the mouse, moving them until they are combined correctly. However, there are two other methods that you can try as well.

Using the merge option from the context menu to paste

  1. Select one of the two tables, by clicking on the four arrows icon in the upper left corner.
  2. Then press the key combination of "Ctrl + X"; the board will be cut after this.
  3. Subsequently, click on the icon with the four arrows in the corner of the table with which you want to combine and, immediately afterwards, the options menu will open; there place the option to paste from Insert a New Rows (R), which is the one with which you can combine both tables and the one indicated in the following screenshot. You can use keyboard shortcuts to combine a table with the one above, by pressing Alt + Shift + Up Arrow, but first you must select the entire table below, by clicking on the icon with the four arrows in the corner or by hovering the mouse over the entire table while double-clicking with the left mouse button. Press the arrow one or as many times as necessary until the boards meet.

On the other hand, if what you want is to merge the table above with the one below, you simply have to do the same key combination, but with the Down Arrow, looking like this: Alt + Shift + Down Arrow.

With these key combinations you can also move all the columns you want at your convenience. You can select one or several at the same time, and upload and download them to your liking, all within the same table.

These methods that we have left here to combine two tables in Word are the best known and simplest. However, there are others that are slightly more complicated. In the same way, if you prefer and know of other ways, you can leave them in the comments.

Finally, tables are one of the most used objects in Word documents, both for work and for studies. Thus, combining them is usually helpful, even more so if what you want is to modify or edit a document in Word already made by someone else. In this way, you totally avoid having to make a new one; you just have to mix them up and, if necessary, modify the text that is inscribed in them or make some other changes.
